Whether you majored in musical theater in college or your voice is better suited for shower singing, karaoke is a classic LA nightlift staple.  From country to rap to 80’s, 90’s and today, these are my top 6 pics for you to go and belt your heart out!

Cafe Brass Monkey – Koreatown – @brassmonkeykaraoke

Cafe Brass Monkey is the perfect dive bar for a karaoke experience in LA.  With $5 parking and a booklet of songs as big as their tables, this place is ideal for an early night of songbird activities.  While it gets packed and busy on the weekends, I find that Sundays right at opening (5pm) are perfect for dropping by.  With an in house kitchen to boot, snag a margarita and a basket of fries and drop those song requests for a great night out!

The Oaks Tavern – Sherman Oaks – @theoakstavern

The Oaks Karaoke is open for business seven days a week.  Get those reservations in (Via RESY), and buckle up for a superb singing experience.  There is no onsite kitchen here, however there is an outdoor kitchen located just outside that you can order from at the bar while you wait for your turn!   And bonus!  Every Wednesday they have trivia from 7:30pm – 9:30pm, with karaoke starting right up at 10pm!

The Gaslite – Santa Monica – @thegaslite

Heading over to the WestSide of LA to croon to some tunes?  Look no further than The Gaslite!  Every night starting at 8pm, or 6pm on Fridays, The Gaslite is a fabulous cool dark spot to head after some fun in the sun!  Reservations are never required, but in case of a private party they do take them!  Feel free to rent out the space for all your celebratory needs.  Happy Hour is everyday from 4pm – 9pm, and they have nightly drink specials that change daily that begin right after HH!  Who could ask for anything more?

Break Room 86 – Koreatown – @breakroom86

Looking for the ultimate cool kids private karaoke experience? Break Room 86 delivers all of the LA Vibes.  Secret entrance via a snack machine?  Check.  Sick wall made of cassette tapes?  They got it!  Their exclusive rooms can occupy up to 15 or 20 of your closest friends depending on the package you want.  Fully integrated with an ipad operated karaoke system with dual wireless microphones and a retro Atari system with a plethora of vintage games, Break Room 86 is the place to be!

The Fable – Eagle Rock – @thefable.la

With its friendly neighborhood vibes, The Fable is the quintessential community you’ve been looking for.  While not every night hosts karaoke, on Thursdays and Mondays the bar is rockin’!   Happy hour goes until 7pm every night, and the owners frequently donate a part of their profits to various causes like the Downtown Women’s Shelter and the LA LGBTQ+ Center, ensuring that most of the drinks go to a good cause!

MAX Karaoke Studio – Little Tokyo DTLA – @maxkaraoke_la_oc
With multiple locations in Los Angeles and Orange County, Max Karaoke Studio is your safest bet for a comfortable environment!  The biggest pro is the inclusivity of languages you can choose from, English, Spanish, Japanese, Russian and so many more!  Happy hour runs from 1pm – 7pm, and they charge room rates not only by the hour, but by person.  Don’t wanna celebrate at their actual location, MAX Karaoke even has traveling machines for you to rent, providing a good time no matter the venu!
