What’s your drink of choice? Wine? Beer? Gin? Scotch? You can always go to Ralphs, Vons, or even Trader Joe’s (I’ll admit, their $10 Orange wine is great!) for whatever you’re desiring. But, if you’re like me, then you enjoy something a bit more unique and tailored to your taste. Here’s a list of 9 places for you to find all your liquor necessities! I’ll drink to that!
Boutellier – West Hollywood – @boutellierwines
Located right on the Sunset Strip, Boutellier is partnered with Tesse Restaurant and has a stunning wine room filled to the brim of incredible finds. Sourced from private wine collectors who are unable to fulfill the difficult prospect of finishing their cellars, Boutellier has wines for every budget. The sommeliers are top notch and genuinely care about helping you find the perfect match. From $10 all the way to $10,000 (hey, a gal can dream right), Boutellier holds a special place in my heart…until the end of my current bottle.
Wine Stop – DTLA, Silverlake, and Echo Park – @winestop
Alavaro Cardenas is the brilliant owner of this unassuming yet extraordinary wine shop and everytime I go I fall further in love! He takes the time to ensure that all of the wines sold in his store come from wineries that support human rights, the environment, and also pay their workers a livable wage. Many of his selections are not available anywhere else in LA and most bottles cost around $20 and under! Plus, on Thursdays, they have wine and cheese tastings, 3 wines and 3 cheeses for only $25!
Vinovore – Virgil Village & Eagle Rock – @vinovorela
Celebrating women winemakers everywhere, Vinovore is the perfect shop to come in and find that special bottle for the occasion. With two locations to choose from, Vinovore also has an amazing little gift shop with cards and other accouterments for all your gifting needs. From pre-chilled wines to screw top bottles ready to go for your Hollywood Bowl Needs; grab a bottle, or four, and help support the female wine community!
Remedy Liquors – Glendale – @remedyliquor
The only con to this Glendale shop is their parking, or lack thereof. But, if you’re willing to walk a block to get there, your reward will be grand. You’ll find exclusive bottles that are at least $20 less than anywhere else! I don’t know how they do it, and I don’t care. While Remedy has no frills, they have an extensive collection of rare casks and unique bottles. Their whiskey and scotch collection is sure to delight even the most knowledgeable of your bartender friends.
Bar Keeper – Virgil Village – @barkeepersilverlake
If you are a collector of quality vintage glassware (who me?), look no further than Bar Keeper. You won’t find name brands in their collection of exceptionally priced spirits. This fantastic shop hosts various tastings every Saturday that feature different small batch distilleries for FREE. Then they offer those bottles at a discount for purchase! It’s a lovely way to try something new and continue your education on your favorite alcohol.
Silverlake Wine – Silverlake – @silverlakewine
If you’re looking for that fun bottle of wine you had while dining out last week, ten for ten, Silverlake Wine has it. Their storeroom is perfectly curated with every type of wine available; natural, biodynamic, or organic. If you’re looking to expand beyond your basic Merlot, Pinot Noir, or Chardonnay (don’t worry, they carry those), SLW is the perfect place to broaden your palate. From Baralos to Sancerres to Orange Wines, step out of your Sauvignon Blanc box and let your wine world explode with new flavors.
Golden Rule Liquor – West Hollywood – @golden_rule_liquor
An actual diamond in the rough, Golden Rule Liquor looks like your normal neighborhood bodega, but once inside their spirits collection is insanity. From rare casks and special releases to the classics, it can all be found here. Their pricing is pretty standard, but with an almost always empty parking lot, this is such a complete local gem. Added bonus, they’ve got loads of chips and snacks for the road home before you treat your taste buds to your new fancy pour of whiskey!
Vin on Rose – Venice – @vinonrose
Vin on Rose is a classic neighborhood wine shop that has spared no expense where you’ll find an incredibly knowledgeable staff to help you make your selection Walk on in, tell the employees what you’re looking for and your budget and rest easy, they’ll set you up for success. They even have a little section of cheese and crackers for purchase to elevate your evening plans!
Soft Spirits – Silverlake – @soft_spirits
Not drinking alcohol? No problem! Soft Spirits has got you covered. Los Angeles’ first non-alcoholic bottle shop, SS has a massive selection of NA beer, wine, and liquors. Let their discerning and supportive staff answer any questions you might have regarding dietary restrictions or special additives.
