It’s time. You’ve been saving for a while, the travel adaptors have arrived, all your tours are in place, and you’re itching to escape. Sure, you’ve checked the weather, but just in case you need a little assistance, here is a handy resource and essential packing list for mentally preparing before you step foot on the plane.

One Week Prior:
While it might sound silly, I like to pull my suitcases out of the closet a week before my trip. Ensuring that the built-in locks are working or that I didn’t leave anything behind from a prior journey. Not only does this excite me about the trip, but as you move through your weekly wardrobe, I also find it best to pull items from my closet that I’m planning to bring! Not only does holding your best attire make it more exciting when packing, but you’ll also feel fresh and new as you step out into the streets of your destination.
5 Days Prior:
Do you have all your necessities? Guidebooks, proper footwear, your swimsuits or coats depending on location. Today is the day to go through your checklist, not to make sure it’s tucked away neatly, but to ensure you have all you need to travel safely and smoothly. This is when you should be out getting your airplane snacks, making sure everything you’ve ordered has arrived. Attached to this blog is a little list of things that you might need no matter where you go! Plus, if you lose or forget something, it’s always nice to contribute to the local economy wherever you travel.
2 Days Prior:
Two things: laundry and pre-pack your travel attire. Seems pretty simple, however making sure that everything is fresh and clean and ready for packing. As someone who lives in an apartment building, there have been several times where I’ll think to myself, eh–I’ll do it the day beforehand and something is broken or all the machines are being used at once and it’s a stressful nightmare. A few days before your trip is the perfect time to utilize your backup wardrobe.
Now that all your clothing is ready to go, let’s pull everything that you’re planning to take with you. Depending on how you like to pack is up to you! I am a big fan of rolling up my outfits day by day. Layering my tops and folding them neatly inside whichever bottoms I plan on wearing makes unpacking once I get to my location easy as pie! You can separate them daily or pack your tops and bottoms separately! However, I do find this makes for the most space and organization during your trip!
The Night Before:
Nothing will ensure you are ready to roll like laying out your travel wardrobe like tomorrow is the first day of school; especially if your flight departs before 8 am. You’re able to wake up, throw on your clothes, and walk out the door stress-free!
It’s time to pack that nighttime skincare routine! I’m a big fan of leaving this night for a pre-mini spa evening. Facemasks? Full-body showers? This is the time for you to take care of your body before you depart. Once you’ve taken than self-care bath or shower, anything that you’re done using for the night can be swiftly packed away. Leaving only the necessities for the morning; contacts, your home toothpaste, etc.
Now it’s time to step into your pj’s and set the necessary alarms you need to wake in the morning knowing you’re 100% ready to go exploring!
