Sushi all day everyday…and depending on your budget, there are so many wonderful local places you can try.  Going all out for a big date night or grabbing some on the way home or a quick afternoon snack to hold you over before dinner, here is my quick little list of my top six places for you to get you ready for that hamachi girl summer!

The Best of the Best: $$$$$

Hamasaku – Santa Monica – @hamasakula

Hamasaku is the best sushi I’ve ever enjoyed in the states hands down. Situated in a little strip mall off of Santa Monica Blvd.  Hamasaku is a wonder to behold once inside.  Their fresh and creative selections of sushi don’t need soy sauce, so don’t even ask for it.  My top choices are the Albacore Crispy Onion & the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice with chive.  You can choose anything from Saki to Mochi on their menu and you will have chosen wisely.

Nobu – Malibu – @noburestaurants

Yes.  It lives up to the hype and that’s exactly why it’s on the list.  The sushi is simply as delicious as it could be, and the view is worth the price.  Perfect  for celebrating anything from anniversaries to parental visits to business dinners, Nobu even has non-sushi options to entice those who don’t care to consume raw fish. When choosing your options, the toro scallion and the spicy baked snow crab were stunning to taste!

Treat Yo Self…Responsibly:  $$$

KazuNori Hand Roll –  Various Locations – @kazunorisushi

The hand roll set menus at KazuNori are my LIFE!  You can choose 3 for $15, or  5 for $25. They are handmade to order and presented in specific order for your prime tasting pleasure!  Their choice of 5 is my go to everytime I head downtown for my hair appointments; specifically the bay scallop hand roll.  The downtown location only has a few small seating areas and a wrap-around bar, but don’t be scared of any lines outside.  They move quickly and efficiently to get you seated and eating as soon as possible!  After that, sit back and enjoy some of the best handrolls LA has to offer.

Teru Sushi – Studio City – @terusushi

Located on the Valley Strip (Ventura Blvd.), Teru Sushi has a stunning menu without costing ¼ of your monthly rent!  Everything there tastes divine and is brought out quickly.  Their tempura and spicy yellowtail rolls are the most notable on their list. While it’s not “sushi,” their Lobster Wonton Soup is a perfect choice to start your meal with chunks of lobster, mushroom and scallions in a tamari ginger broth.

Slaps on a Budget: $

Sushi Stop – Multiple Locations – @sushistopusa

The sushi here at SushiStop is so good yet so insanely well-priced, you could eat your body weight in $4 rolls and still barely run up a $30 tab. Their premium rolls cost about $10, instead of $16+ at other locations, but the quality is still there.  My personal favorites are the baked salmon roll for only $5.50 and the Yuzu (one of my favorite flavors) Albacore Roll, which boasts a piece of cilantro atop a spicy tuna & garlic ponzu roll.  With so many locations around the greater Los Angeles area, there’s always a sushi stop near you for all of your hand roll emergencies.

Noshi Sushi – East Hollywood – @noshisushilosangeles
Truly one of the OG’s when it comes to sushi in Los Angeles, Noshi Sushi gets it right every single time. From the edamame to classic rolls for only $5 and premium rolls at the highest price of $20, Noshi is the kind of cozy place where everyone is welcome. They even have private parking in the back, which we Angelenos LOVE!  Their original recipe for Spicy Tuna continually gets voted as the best in Los Angeles year after year. Noshi Sushi is committed to providing authentic Japanese cuisine in LA!
