Staycation is all I ever wanted and bopping around various hotels in your hometown is a perfect way to explore during these hot summer months.  Whether you’re indoors enjoying air conditioning that you don’t pay for or taking it to a rooftop bar for that cool sunset breeze; here’s a quick little list of Hotel Bars to make you feel as though you teleported away to a new level of comfort.  

Avec Nous – Beverly Hills – @viceroyhotels 

When you wanna escape your humdrum life and spend a day like the rich and famous, Avec Nous, French for “with us”, is here for all your champagne dreams and caviar wishes.  Celebrity sightings are a daily occurrence, so come dressed to impress.   The menu is delicious and is open at 7am for breakfast and closes at 11pm.  Their pomme frites to perfectly sauteed scallops, and the fantastic wine selection (be sure to take a photo opp in the wine room) will blow you away!  Street parking is by permit only, so be prepared to pay the valet while you dine in style next to the Hollywood elite!

Mama Shelter – Hollywood – @mamashelterla

Stunning views and fantastic cocktails, Mama Shelter is perfect for grabbing a drink while you gaze upon the beauty of Downtown LA or the famous Hollywood sign!  For hotel food, Mama Shelter doesn’t disappoint.  The Crispy Tofu Bao Bun and the Short Rib Tacos are surefire standouts! If you’re just looking to snack and sip, the whipped white beans and grilled flatbread pair well with the Bermuda Triangle, a rum based drink with luxardo liqueur and amaro that explodes with flavor in your mouth! 

Hotel Cara – Los Feliz – @cara_hotel

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or their famous Aperitivo (happy hour), the Cara Hotel is as hot as it comes!  Their delightful patio is as romantic as it gets with pale linens and soft twinkle lights that adorn bright space.  The lemon pasta with 24 month aged parmesan is to die for, as is their Bufala mozzarella and passion fruit scallop crudo.  Parking can be limited in the area, but their helpful and friendly valet service sets the level of care high!

Broken Shaker – DTLA –  @brokenshaker

If you’re headed downtown, there is no better place to be than Broken Shaker.  Located inside the Freehand Hotel, head up to the rooftop bar for stunning sunset views through the iconic DTLA Skyline.   Their handcrafted cocktails are some of the best in LA, my personal favorite being the 24 Carrot Cap, which was a lovely surprise of cachaça, carrot juice, and cilantro.  The food is simple and classic, yet full of flavor, making Broken Shaker a must stop on your Downtown itinerary.  

Onyx – Santa Monica – @onyxrooftopbar   
If you’re searching for sandy beach vibes that overlook the ocean at sunset, ONYX Rooftop Bar is calling your name.  Their mission is simple:  to serve delicious and affordable food that guests will want to return back for time and time again.  Appropriately priced and sized menu items that range from a spoonful of french fries to a fresh thai summer roll that will keep you coming back for more.  Drinks are slightly more expensive, but with an ocean view like the one they have, it’s worth every penny!
