best day

Ever

When you live in Los Angeles and wanna get away there is no better place than Palm Springs.  Hot as hell, but full of fun in the sun, I’ve set you up with a perfect 3 Day Itinerary to make sure you’re ready to go for some vintage swinging fun!

Day One:

Post Arrival Dinner:  The Heyday

Whether you’re staying at an Airbnb or Hotel, the first stop on your food journey HAS to The Heyday.   After you’ve unpacked and dressed and ready to hit the Palm Springs Strip, The Heyday has all the fixings to get you ready for the night ahead.  The most popular on the menu has to be the Martini and Burger Special for $18.95.  The smash burgers are to die for and the basket of fries is worth $5.75 .

Not into martinis?  Never fear, they’ve got perfectly crafted classic cocktails like margaritas, old fashioned,  and even Dr. Pepper for those not quite ready to partake.  Fast and speedy service that touts QUALITY, The Heyday is not to be missed.

Drinks on Drinks on Drinks:  Quadz

Quadz in PS is hands down the most fun I’ve EVER had at a bar.  At first glance, you might think that it’s a regular sports bar, but upon entering you’ll find the screens display none other than clips of Broadway’s best performances from Stage and Screen.  Appropriately priced drinks while singing along to Hello Dolly!, Grease, and Little Shop of Horrors is an amazing way to end your first night.  While Quads has basic cocktails, the liquor pours are generous per the cost.  The main attraction is the sing-along to celebrate the Great White Way with some of the most enthusiastic patrons you’ll find around;  who could ask for anything more?

Day Two:

Bangin’ Hangover Breakfast:  Farm

Once you’ve woken up from your musical theater slumber, it’s time to grab some grub.  Throw on those oversized sunglasses and floppy hat and head on over to Farm.  With plenty of seating, try to get there early so your wait won’t be too long.  Everything on the menu is delectable and cannot be overhyped enough.  Sweet or savory crepes, brie and date sandwiches, omelets of every style, with a plethora of delightful crafted cocktails (or plenty of blood orange ice tea for those who went a little too hard on a Friday night), simply make Farm the best breakfast in town.

Shop til you Drop:  Downtown Palm Springs

So many stores, so little time.  DTPS is the perfect place to drop some cash while you plot how you’re going to buy a house and live here full time.  Your first stop has to be Destination PSP, which is loaded with glassware (mostly plastic for the pool), but will definitely help you recall that electric 50’s ambiance that vibrates through the city long after you’ve returned home.

Next stop is Peepa’s; stock full of shoes, clothing, and other various giftable items, Peepa’s is full of that bright colorful energy that screams Palm Springs!  With friendly, yet not pushy staff, you’re sure to find whatever souvenir your heart desires.

Wet that Whistle:  Mid Day Snacks and Drinks!

After you’ve dropped some cash on some much needed souvenir’s, walk right over to The High Bar, located on the rooftop at the Kimpton Rowan Hotel.  No need to be staying in the hotel to enjoy, just take the elevator up so you can sit back and relax and enjoy the sun while you sip on a classic Palm Springs Mai Thai and enjoy some poke nachos or their lovely charcuterie board.

Rock Until the Sun Comes Up:

Wanna get a little wild?  Palm Springs has PLENTY of fantastic and safe places to let loose.  For Queer Men looking for a down and dirty vibe, be sure to check out Tool Shed, the local Leather bar.  Bachelorette parties can head on over to the Copa Nightclub; live DJ’s, a killer dance floor, and fast moving bartenders that keep the drinks flowing and the party hoppin’.

Day Three:  Closing Time

You did it, and sadly it’s time to return home.  Before departing, load your stomach full of delicious bites at Boozehounds.  Built for us and our four legged furry friends, Boozehounds has ample indoor, with glorious air conditioning, and outdoor seating.  From brunch, to cocktail hour, to dinner, and even a fantastic late night menu.  A must is their ricotta board, two delightful ricotta dips with ube toast and various toppings.  To drink, pair with the Brown Dog, a rum and rye based cocktail with delightfully warm palo santo bitters. Wanna stay for just a FEW more hours?  The first sunday of every month is the Palm Springs Vintage Market.  Chock full of furniture and home decor from various independent stalls.  From high quality Mid Century Modern pieces to decorative brooches and fantastic vintage glassware, you’ll be sure to find that classic statement piece to commemorate your three day vacation perfectly!
