As we Angelenos wade into the “ber” months, deciding to stay in and be cozy is made easier with the click of a button as we order our favorite takeaway from our local haunts. Here is a new list to freshen up your tucked-in evenings as we move into our chilly 78* autumnal nights.
Bulan Thai – Silverlake – @bulanthai
While Bulan Thai is 100% vegetarian and vegan even fussy eaters and meat lovers can find something to enjoy on the menu. Their traditional and authentic recipes, reworked by a fully Thai women team, are locked and loaded full of flavor. Their dumplings and sate are perfect starters, and the glass noodle salad is a fabulous follow up. For the main courses, the wonderfully curated Pineapple Fried Rice and the Tom Yum Noodles are standouts. Take a chance and enjoy the surprise flavors this fall, and yes, you should definitely order extra peanut sauce, it’s that good.
DeSano’s Pizza – Little Armenia – @desanopizzala
DeSano Pizza doesn’t play when it comes to authentic Neapolitan pizza. Their prized and vastly varied menu has everything a pizza lover could dream of. Snag the namesake pizza as a classic people pleaser, and from there go ahead and try something new like the shrimp and pesto pizza or the hot honey pepperoni doppio. Have a hankering for mozzarella or caprese? Never fear, the caprese with beefsteak tomatoes and fresh basil is so classic and clean you’ll debate ordering a second round. If you aren’t carbo loaded yet the pizza dough balls are a sheer delight. Slide on those soft pants and snuggle in for a movie marathon as you chill with all the cheesy goodness DeSano’s has to offer.
Bollywood Cafe – Studio City – @bollywoodcafela
Bollywood Cafe is a hidden gem where you will find the best Indian food in Los Angeles. Their Shrimp Korma is so smooth and flavorful (even the mild version) that you’ll fall asleep with a full belly dreaming of your next order. The garlic naan is not to be missed and their chicken tikka masala is delicious. Bollywood simply crushes with every single bite. From chicken, shrimp, lamb, Sheek, to fish. PRO TIP: If you celebrate your birthday there, you will find an extraordinary level of hospitality to ensure that special night.
Eagle Rock Italian Bakery – Eagle Rock – @eagle_rock_italian_bakery
If you’re throwing any kind of cozy home party, Eagle Rock Italian Bakery is ready to supply you with all of your needs. Their variety of breads are baked fresh daily and available for take out! Order a sandwich, or several, to go, and don’t forget to add any of the multitude of cookies and snacks that are available for purchase and perfect for all of those football festivities that are starting to pop up. Their prosciutto crudo and molinari salami are standout sandwiches but you also can’t go wrong with their deli meat trays.
Broad Street Oyster – Malibu – @broadstreetoysterco
Life on the West Side can be so snug with the eternal marine layer creeping up from the ocean, so why not lean into our “East Coast Fantasy” and order from the best of the best, Broad Street Oyster Company? While there are multiple locations, the one in Malibu is truly special. Their tuna tartar, lobster rolls (chilled with mayo or warm with butter), and coleslaw and oysters are all to die for. Take in the aroma of fresh open seawater, press play on Practical Magic, and lean into your “East Coast Fantasy” of warm knit sweaters and crisp fall breezes as you sip on their classic lobster bisque.
Sushi Stop – Various Locations – @sushistopusa
SushiStop gets it, and those of us on a budget who wanna treat ourselves are grateful. Sushi Shop is a steal with their classic rolls coming in under $5 and their premium rolls running from $10 – $12. Their baked salmon rolls, yuzu albacore roll, and salmon truffle handroll are knockouts. They offer two pieces of nigari for either $4 or $8. For those with a more adventurous palate you must try the bay scallop, trio of edomae, or salmon egg. Add on a little edamame and miso soup, and you’ll be happy and full all for under $30.
Bon Vivant – Atwater Village – @bonvivantmc
Cheese. Boards. To-Go. NEED I SAY MORE? I will proclaim my love for Bon Vivant Market & Cafe until the day I die, because you have not truly lived until you experience their meat and cheese boards curated by the lovely cheesemonger Patrick (yes, this is a real person’s job and I am so jealous). Breakfast, lunch, or dinner is always at the ready and everything on the menu is steller. Bon Vivant has perfect selections for laid back vibes ready for a girlfriend’s movie night, first date dinners, or a solo work session where a snack is most necessary! When it comes to Bon Vivant, there are no misses with their menu.
Bird Box – North Hollywood – @eatbirdbox
Wings for the win! When you’re coming down with the munchies sometimes wings are all that can satisfy you. While they have a $25 minimum for to-go orders, their delivery fee is only $4, covers a ten mile radius (basically all of LA proper), and their wings will arrive poppin fresh. Sandwiches, wraps, fries, and clearly wings are all available to order at eat atBird Box. Beware, their “spicy” means business! But with multiple dips and sauces to satisfy even the harshest critic, you’ll be so enthused that you picked quality wings for your chill vibes night in.
