Sometimes ya just wanna get down and spin yourself right round on into the night.  Where are the best places in Los Angeles to pop, lock, jam, and break? While there are lots of clubs where you can stand in line outside longer than you’re inside, here is a short list that gets you on the dance floor as quickly as possible. 

The Short Stop – Echo Park – @theshortstopechopark

The Short Stop hosts dancing every night at 10pm and their Motown Mondays are especially amazing. Get there at 5pm to enjoy happy hour (and far better street parking), and stick around until the lights dim down and the funky beats drop. This place sports the most welcoming of vibes. Everyone just seems happy to be out and alive in Los Angeles. PS. You can enjoy tasty treats from any of the various food trucks that park outside. They’ll ensure you’re carbo loaded and ready to go for the next trip around the dance floor!  

Zebulon – Frogtown – @zebulonla

If underground live music is your passion, Zebulon in Frogtown is for you.  Local live bands, incredible DJ’s, and of course dancing can all be found in this hidden gem.  While some shows do have a cover charge, there are plenty of free options for those on a budget.  Looking to nosh while you’re movin’ & groovin’?  Zebulon has pizzas and tacos to keep you nourished through the night.  Cocktails, beer, and wine are aplenty and they’ll keep the tunes playing long into the night! Treat yourself to an entertaining night out whenever you’re ready to rumble!

Gold Diggers – Hollywood – @golddiggersla

Gold-Diggers.  Equal parts bar, venu, boutique hotel, and recording studio; you’ll have to check their Instagram to see what is on tap any given night.  From relaxing evenings filled with jazz to funky soul dance nights, their cover charge is almost always under $15.  Food must be found elsewhere, but if you’re visiting town and wanna stay at a hotel with the coolest rock & roll feeling, you can book in advance to stay where the party is always rockin’! 

Gaslite – Santa Monica – @thegaslite

Dive bar dance parties for the WIN at ​​The Gaslite! This place is great for large parties where the drinks are abundant and fun is ready to be had around every corner.  Authentic as all get out, come early to enjoy happy hour from 4-9pm and prepare your body on an incredible dance floor.  If Karaoke is more your jam, check their Instagram for their next night dedicated to singing your heart out. Everyone there is nice and friendly, keeping the energy at Gaslite eternal and young forever! 

Precinct – DTLA – @precinctdtla
Precinct is where the party is at!  Located in Downtown Los Angeles, this amazing LGBTQ+ space is literally where the party gets started and ends. It’s just that much fun. Their themed dance nights, like “Bearded Pig Disco ” and “R&D”, usually boast no cover charge making the environment inviting and affordable.  Enjoy a pre-boogie happy hour, Tuesdays – Saturdays from 6 – 9, and moonwalk into the night!
