Halloween in Los Angeles can be such a fun way to enjoy autumn as we close out the year. With hundreds of events every year, however do you choose? West Hollywood’s Halloween Parade is wonderful, but crowded, and the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride and Disneyland Halloween are doable at any time in the month. If you’re looking for more unique ways to celebrate, here is my small but mighty list of spooky alternatives to ensure you enjoy all the autumnal delights there are to behold in LA County.
Moonlight Rollerway – Glendale – @officialmoonlightrollerway
A horrifying night at the Moonlight Rollerway? Don’t mind if we do! Charging only $20 to skate and $8 to rent is a surefire way to guarantee a perfect All Hallows Eve. Roll your bones to some of the grooviest tunes and wear your ghastly attire as you skate into the night…well from 8pm – 11pm. New to skating and dying to learn? Come down early to have a nearly empty rink to practice with wonderfully patient skate instructors for only an extra $15. It’s sure to be a thrill as you have some good old fashioned fun at the rink! Tickets are rolling away fast: Roll Your Bones Skate Night!
Old Town Music Hall – El Segundo – @oldtownmusichall
A treasured cultural landmark in Southern California, Old Town Music Hall, with its live organ music and silent picture shows, has gone all out for the month of October. The tickets are quite reasonable (from $10 – $20) to delight in the experience of viewing some of cinema’s best classics as they were meant to be seen, on the big screen. With showings every Saturday and Sunday, what better way to enjoy a classic bump in the night than to nibble some popcorn and go to the movies?
Joselitos Pumpkin Margarita’s – Tujunga – @joselitostujunga
Trying a Pumpkin Spice Margarita, served in an actual pumpkin, is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween and is well worth the $19 price tag. Joselito’s Mexican Food has put in the time with decorations and offers a wonderfully curated menu for the haunted holiday! Their Pumpkin Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas and Pumpkin Flan are packed full of flavor in every bite. Their polite staff never misses a beat and you get a little souvenir pumpkin to take home. What can be more gourd-gous than that? Secure your reservations here: Joselito’s Reservations.
Spooky Tea at The Wayfarer – DTLA – @lillyrosedtla
Deep in the dark dungeons of the Wayfarer DTLA you’ll find Lilly Rose, where once a year they host a frightfully fun Halloween Themed High Tea for only $65 per person. Their cakes and cookies, and greenish deviled eggs galore pair beautifully with their various assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated teas. Stay for a surprise magic act or burlesque performance, but the real show is behind the bar where the talented team offers amazing cocktails (at an additional cost). Put on your most fang-tastic themed outfit and imagine yourself tucked cozily away in Dracula’s Castle as you drink tea for all eternity! Reservations fill up quickly so hold your spot here: Lilly Rose Reservations.
Awesome list!
